beam light, morse code and video projected across the Delaware River
CURRENT DOCUMENTATION
LAUNCH
"I am interested in how the Delaware River functions both as a border
between Pennsylvania and New York States and as a historic conduit of
trade,” says artist Mat Rappaport. currents is an installation of
light, sound, and video at the Narrowsburg Bridge, which spans the
Delaware River. On the New York side, a high-powered flashlight beams
Morse code across the water onto a video screen positioned on the
Pennsylvania side. At the same time, a video juxtaposes scenes of
interior office architecture with footage shot in and around the river. The
Morse code
spells out trade agreements and washes away the video images on the
screen."
